Who Is Your Mentor?
January 18, 2012
Is there someone in your life you look up to? Someone who you seek the counsel of when you need advise, to talk to about anything, or just to listen?
What about someone who will tell you point-blank when you've totally screwed up? That will only ever criticize you in private, praising you and building you up to others in public? Who is very invested in your success as a person through your personal, family, and job life? Who if they knew you're in a situation over your head would step in without hesitation to come to your aid?
For me, that person just happens to be our Minister of Worship and Evangelism here at MCC, Ed Carter.
Since Ed and I met in the summer of 2002, he has been a constant, consistent person in my life.
When I was oblivious to a situation that could have been ill-perceived by others, he taught me about being "Above Reproach".
Whenever I come up with an idea I am excited about, he is the one who makes sure I have thought through all the worst-case-scenarios, every minute detail covered...and most of the time I have not considered them.
When I've had issues in my personal or family life that have stretched my emotions and stress level to the extreme, he has been there as a guide, rescuer, and friend.
I have learned so much from his experience, wisdom, and critique...and most importantly the example he sets as a Leader and man of God.
So, WHO IS THE MENTOR IN YOUR LIFE? ...Or do you even have one?
