I'm half way through the book "Heaven is for Real" by Todd Burpo, and I can't help but wonder at it.

I was very cynical going into this reading because I could not believe that they were making so much money off this book that the basis of which was a nearly 4-year-old's revelation he had during surgery...I just didn't get it.

Then, one of the students in my youth group told me I needed to read it.  I have a policy that if a student recommends something seriously for me to check out, I will usually at least give it a shot.  I also opened my Bible to Matthew 18:1-4

At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, "Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" He called a little child and had him stand among them.  And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.  Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Well, this did it for me so I picked it up and started reading...and once I started I couldn't stop.

This book has spawned all sorts of thoughts for me about Heaven, the Bible, Jesus, etc...

Needless to say, I am no longer the cynic I was about this book.

And, regardless of how much you believe about it, the one thing you can take away from this book if nothing else is...

HEAVEN IS FOR REAL!!!

Hi Josh, I too read Heaven is for real at the urging of a friend ! What a good book ! We have all heard people with tales of near death experiences or visiting Heaven, or even some who say that they visited hell, but coming from this little boy - how PURE the story is ! I loved the part when he was telling of meeting the grandfather !! Even though we already know it - How comforting to be reassured that we will all be together in the end with Jesus and our Heavenly Father ! Not to mention HOW CUTE IS THIS LITTLE GUY !!!! I would also definately recommend the read ! The world needs to know that HEAVEN IS FOR REAL !!

We read it after losing our baby last year. Awesome book! It was so comforting as well as we had so many questions about losing an unborn child. Great stuff.
